The OnePlus 5 does not improve the screen, it is the same as the OnePlus 3T

OnePlus 5

El OnePlus 5 has been officially unveiled. Finally, it does not have a screen with a Quad HD resolution, but a screen with a Full HD resolution and with Optic AMOLED technology. In reality, the smartphone does not improve the quality of the screen, as it is the same screen as the OnePlus 3T.

OnePlus 5 with the same screen as the OnePlus 3T

If you bought a OnePlus 3 or a OnePlus 3T, it may not be very smart to buy the OnePlus 5. The smartphone does not have a new screen. In fact, the mobile has the same screen that was present in the OnePlus 3T. It is a 5,5-inch screen with a Full HD resolution of 1.920 x 1.080 pixels, and with Optic AMOLED technology. That is, the same screen with which they presented the flagship in 2016.

The fact that the screen does not have a resolution Quad HD it's really relevant. Its price is higher than that of the OnePlus 3T, costing 500 euros. Today it is possible to buy a smartphone like the Samsung Galaxy S8 for a price of about 600 euros, not much more than the price of the OnePlus 5. And the Galaxy S8 already has a Quad HD screen.

It would make sense for the mobile to have a Full HD screen if its price remained as cheap as that of the previous OnePlus, but it is not the case. In fact, the screen resolution of the OnePlus 5 It is the same as the screen resolution of the OnePlus One. And the launch price is much more expensive.

Was a screen much more expensive Quad HD? It's possible. There were also likely supply issues with the display. In fact, this led to not enough units of the OnePlus 3. They probably did not want to integrate a new screen and have production problems with the OnePlus 5 due to having a new screen. In any case, it seems to me that being available the Samsung Galaxy S8 at a price of about 600 euros, it doesn't make much sense to buy the OnePlus 5.
