Opinion: the OnePlus X is too expensive to be interesting

The OnePlus X has already been officially presented, and all the features of this new smartphone have been confirmed, and even the price it will have. Taking both aspects into account, it can be said that it will be too expensive to be interesting.

Much more expensive than its rivals

It is not a high-end mobile. In fact, today it could only aspire to be a mid-range mobile. We have already talked about different mid-range smartphones that will arrive with 3 GB RAM, such as the LeTV Le 1S or the Meizu Metal, as well as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro, of which it is said that it would even arrive in a version with 4 GB RAM memory. Of these mobiles it is said that their price will be less than 200 euros, less that of the most advanced version of the latter, logically, which will be somewhat more expensive, about 230 euros.

The OnePlus X has a price of about 270 euros in Spain. It could cost about 100 euros more to buy this mobile than others at the same level, such as those already mentioned. But in addition to that, we must take into account something else, and that is that for just over 100 euros more, we can get a high-end mobile, the OnePlus 2 without going any further.

Not even the design stands out

OnePlus may have counted on that the design could be remarkable, as it is glass and metal. However, it is not the case. The three mobiles mentioned above will arrive with a main novelty, a metal casing, something that is not exactly eaten among mid-range mobiles.

And it is that, in reality, it could be said that one of the novelties of the mid-range mobiles of the new generation will be the 3 GB RAM and the metallic design. Of course, with the same price, between 150 and 250 euros. It makes no sense to buy a OnePlus X for 270 euros when you can buy a cheaper mid-range Huawei in Spain, or you can even get it through an operator with a significant discount. Even if we are willing to buy a Chinese mobile, such as a Meizu or a Xiaomi, better in terms of quality than OnePlus, we will already be able to get better phones with cheaper prices.

Some time ago it was said that the OnePlus X could arrive with a price lower than 200 euros, but with a price of 270 euros, it is not a mobile at all interesting.

I do not see the post very successful in terms of the comparison. Aspects and size are taken into account, but not network performance: neither the LeTV nor the Xiaomi nor the Meizu have an 800MHz LTE band, which is essential to be able to have a good service in Spain and part of Europe. Check this out because I would never recommend buying a phone without the 800mhz LTE band (or Band 20).

Okay, with reservations. Band 20 is not going to replace those already present, but rather it will be a reinforcement of these, as has been band 8 of 3G (UMTS900). It seems to me a great terminal of medium-high range rather than average to dry. And the price, seeing what OnePlus has done with the OP2, does not seem strange to me. I think there is a lot of potential market for this device.

When is for € 180 or € 200 the Meizu metal with fingerprints and all metal.
