Samsung values ​​updating some low-cost models to Android 4.4

Mid-range terminals are one of the great beneficiaries of the arrival of 4.4 Android KitKat, since these can now be updated to the new version developed by Google because the necessary requirements for it to work properly are lower. Samsung, it seems, is already considering this possibility.

As has been learned from an image that has been leaked, the Korean company would already be considering developing updates for some mid-range and low-end models, which is due, among other things, to the drop in RAM for Android 4.4 to work properly (512MB only). Therefore, the hopes of many users could be satisfied thanks to the new development of Google.

As can be seen in the photograph that we leave below (where the KitKat-specific KRT16 specification appears), the models that it seems clear that they are being studied so that the corresponding firmware They are: Galaxy S4 mini, Galaxy S3 mini, Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Fame, Galaxy Ace 2 and the Galaxy Fresh. Of course, it is very possible that some more devices could be in the study - but they are not part of the image.

In any case, that Samsung is evaluating the possibility that some low-cost models are part of the game when it comes to receiving Android 4.4, does not mean that it is finally like that, so it is not advisable to throw the "bells on the fly." Actually, in our opinion the terminals that have the most options to finally receive a ROM with KitKat are the Galaxy S4 mini and S3 mini. The main reason for the possible drawbacks would be TouchWiz, as the "weight" of this layer could be a problem for the rest.

The truth is that only the fact that Samsung is considering giving a new push to its less powerful terminals is good news, since many would be the users who would benefit. But we must not forget that many models, such as the Galaxy S2, do not seem to be able to benefit from Android 4.4 ... at least on paper.
