And the model Snapdragon 820 will play a key role in this.
This is the model intended for the high-end of the product, which we have already told you about in Any occasion and, from the looks of it, could make its debut on the Xiaomi Mi5. Obviously in other product ranges, as in the average -yesterday we talked about this-, important advances must also be made before the push of companies like MediaTek. But, the case is that in the high-end and after the Snapdragon 810 fiasco, news is urgently needed and, in addition, that these are powerful.
New information has been known that indicates that the SoC we are talking about, the Snapdragon 820, would be manufactured by ... Samsung! This is one of the great rivals of Qualcomm due to its Exynos, which are included in devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S6. If this point is confirmed, TSMC would be left as a supplier to fall into the hands of the Korean company. A whole "bomb" in the processor segment due to the implications that this has for both companies - personally, I think both companies win with this decision, since Qualcomm is put in the hands of the market leader and Samsung gets a contract for it. juicier-.
What to expect from the Snapdragon 820
The source of the information has indicated that people from the Korean company itself have confirmed the data. And in addition, they have also communicated some of the features that would be the game in the Snapdragon 820. They are the following: new cores called Kyro operating at a frequency of 3 GHz and, in addition, the manufacturing process of 14 nanometer FinFET (the same as the Exynos of the Galaxy S6).
By the way, it seems that this new processor is being attractive for manufacturers of mobile terminals, since apart from Xiaomi, it seems that HTC and Sony they want to use them (they are companies that do not have their own factories to develop their own SoCs). We will have to know what others like LG, Microsoft and, of course, Samsung itself will do.
