Spotify is updated to take advantage of Android 4.0

Without a doubt, Spotify is one of the apps that is worth paying for. Now, with their new update, they give even more arguments to drop the 9,99 euros per month that the monthly subscription costs. Spotify version 0.5 has been completely revamped to wear your best clothes for Ice Cream Sandwich.

“For all of our Android users, this update to Spotify is a huge step forward. We have remade the app from top to bottom, making it faster, slicker and much better looking, "said Gustav Södertröm, VP Products at Spotify.

And the changes are many. Available now on Google Play, the new Spotify comes with support for Android 4.0 and among the new features they include are: navigation in swipe mode, crossfade for a playback without pauses, playback in queue or support for playlist folders.

Now we also have a widget to control Spotify from the home screen. In addition, the new app is more social, by allowing you to see your friends' profiles and playlists when you are away, as well as set favorite songs. There are other minor details that complete the application, such as images of the artists in high resolution or something that is available for the first time on mobile, such as a viewer of related artists. Spotify have also made a leap in quality in streaming, from the 160 Kbit / s it offered, it has gone to 320 Kbit per second, just double.

The first impression after downloading it (and that we have had problems with the connection) is very positive. Generally speaking, Spotify is now much faster with the personal library. You will have to subscribe.

You can download it from Google Play

I agree with Riccardo2000: The other covers are mtlosy duplications of JerryC's song, and very mechanical sounding at times. As if they were needing to focus so much on getting it right. On the other hand, because of his tremendous technical talent and willingness to bend the performance to his taste, MattRach created his own version of JerryC's song that has so much more life than the technical renditions in the other covers, including Funtwo's (IMO). Rock on, Matthieu!
