What should integrate the new Android 4.4 KitKat?

4.4 Android KitKat

4.4 Android KitKat is about to be released. We do not know when they will officially launch it, although everything indicates that next month it will be presented together with the Nexus 5. Now, what can we expect from the new version of the operating system? What should Google launch with Android 4.4 KitKat?

A complete redesign

There are many things that Google could have improved this new version. However, something that is missing is already a complete redesign. The current Android interface is fine, but a fresher new look, and shunning the dark colors of the menus would be great. Sony, Samsung and some other companies are already integrating the clearer menus. Apple has had them for a long time, and a Google bet could go in the same direction, changing the Holo interface for a new one. In addition, this would allow Android 4.4 KitKat to rival iOS not only in functions, but in design, as there would also be news for Android users.

Goodbye fragmentation

If they do it right, they could end fragmentation. Only smartphones that have Gingerbread have a large share in the world of Android versions, which is currently commanded by Jelly Bean. Version after version, those from Mountain View have opted for the same name for their operating system, Jelly Bean, and the objective was clear, to make it appear as the one with the highest share, as if it had ended fragmentation. Now they are going to use a new name, and they will have to succeed in ending this fragmentation. For this, the redesign could help, as it would make many users want to update. On the other hand, it will be necessary for them to have created a version that, although better, is adaptable to smartphones with technical specifications that are not high-level. At the very least, all terminals should be able to fit with Jelly Bean.

A new upgrade system

It would be ideal for Google to ensure that the updates did not depend so much on the manufacturers, that new functions could simply be integrated by Google without the companies having to re-adapt them all to their terminals. Obviously, there would always be an adaptation phase by each of the manufacturers, but if we were to find a way to make the entire interface static and that what was changed did not depend so much on the manufacturers, it would be perfect.

An improved Google Now

Siri has been around for years, and Google Now has been around for quite some time. They are two systems with great potential and really useful, but they have not just become essential. An improved version of this system would be one of the great novelties. To begin with, it would have to be integrated into the entire system, but they should also make it easily accessible, and even permanently active. Actually, we can hope that this is the case, but what is necessary will be a second low-energy processor that allows this function, with which the Motorola Moto X and the iPhone 5s already have. It is clear that it will become commonplace.

A simplified interface

You need to simplify everything. They do not have to remove functions, but they do have to launch a simpler, simpler interface that is easier to use for those users who use a smartphone for the first time. This is vital to capture all those users who do not yet have a smartphone.

A 64-bit operating system

And of course, what is necessary is that the new operating system is 64-bit. Obviously it will be. Most likely, the new version operates in 64 bits in some versions, in those that can be installed on smartphones that are compatible with these systems. For example, this is what would happen with the Samsung Galaxy S5. In fact, if Samsung hopes to launch the 64-bit terminal, it is because they already count on Android to be like that, and it is easy for it to be Android 4.4 KitKat. The future depends a lot on whether Android also bets on 64 bits.

Surprises

Ideally, in addition, they would add something that is not expected. Something innovative that has not yet appeared, that no company has presented. Siri was at the time. Google Glass is. It could be anything, but a new feature is always welcome. It is not necessary to present it as he is no more, but it could be a great point in favor.

To end the fragmentation, let it be google who supports Android updates, and manufacturers to update their new functions and improvements in their interface, or harassment we do not receive updates from our Launchers, if it is not done in that way we will have fragmentation forever.

And although it seems that in JellyBean a large part of the Android percentage is concentrated in that version, there is also fragmentation.

It's true Carlos. You're right when it comes to Jelly Bean. Although it bears the same name, there is fragmentation.
