The Motorola Moto X is already official, these are its specifications

El Motorola Moto X has already been presented today in New York. The presentation was made up of several press sessions in which it was possible to see the new smartphone and find out all its specifications. Without a doubt, it will be one of the great smartphones on the market, and will compete with the iPhone, the Samsung Galaxy S4, the HTC One and the Sony Xperia Z.

Motorola X8, the computer system

To begin, let's talk about the processor, or what we would consider a processor in any smartphone. In this case, it is the Motorola X8 Mobile Computing System that the new Motorola Moto X. What is this? A computing system made up of eight cores. Specifically, it has a Snapdragon S4 Pro dual-core CPU processor, capable of reaching a clock frequency of 1,7 GHz. To this should be added a quad-core GPU graphics processor, capable of competing in performance with the Sony processor. Xperia Z, Nexus 4 and Nexus 7, which implies that it has a graphics level operation superior to that of most smartphones on the market. To this should be added that this graphic processor can take over functions of the main CPU when necessary, so that applications that require high computing capacity can function correctly.

Now, where are the other two nuclei? They are two cores with low energy consumption. One of them is dedicated to contextual computing, that is, to action based on the environment that surrounds us or the current circumstances of the system itself. How can you integrate that into a smartphone? Simple, this nucleus will constantly dedicate itself to knowing if the smartphone is in the pocket, in the bag, or we are looking at it, to locate the light level, the inclination it has at all times, as well as the geographical position it has. In this way, results that vary depending on the circumstances can be achieved. Basically, it is the same as we have today with Google Now and other similar services such as Smart Stay or Smart Scroll. The difference is that the latter made use of the main processor, spending a lot of battery. This core is specially dedicated to this, and it is of low consumption, so it will not consume almost any battery even if it is always active. The other core, with the same characteristics, is that of natural language recognition. In other words, they will be able to listen to what we say to them at all times. There will be no button to press, since it is always on the lookout for the words that unlock it: "Ok, Google Now." With this, he will begin to obey us.

By the way, this system would have to be added a 2 GB RAM memory that would sustain all the systems in the background in the correct way and would allow the main applications to run without any problem. 4G compatibility confirmed.

High definition display

What screen does this Motorola Moto X have? A normal, high definition screen. Its size is 4,7 inches, so it is in a balanced range, being large, but somewhat smaller than the five inches, although the difference will not be very noticeable. What is more remarkable is that it is high definition 720p (316 dpi), and it is not Full HD 1080p. This was expected, and it has been fulfilled. Why do you have this screen? Probably to reduce the price of the smartphone, and because there is not a huge difference between a Full HD screen and a standard HD in terms of the final result. In any case, it is what there is right now.

Memory and battery

Not surprising in memory possibilities. For starters, it will arrive in two versions. One of them is 16GB, while the other is 32GB exclusively for AT&T. The most curious thing is that this memory cannot be expanded by means of a microSD card. The latter seems to be inspired by Google, who already announced the Nexus 4 with a memory that could not be expanded by means of a microSD card. It seems that Motorola will follow the path set by Google.

The battery, on the other hand, is 2.200 mAh. It does not seem too much, and more if we consider that it is similar to the one that the Samsung Galaxy S4 has. However, the truth is that the latter has a range that is not bad at all, I was surprised, and to this we would have to add a computer system created specifically to save battery.

Camera

The camera is the protagonist in the new Motorola Moto X. Now we talked about her a few days ago, and your name is clearpixel. It is a 10,5 megapixel camera that stands out mainly for having a pixel size greater than that of most cameras. Only the HTC One exceeds the size of 1,4 microns with which the pixels of the Motorola Moto X camera have, and that is that the Taiwanese smartphone, with its Ultra Pixel camera, offers a pixel of 2 microns. However, smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S4 have a camera with a pixel size of 1,1 microns. To this should be added the possibility of recording in x4HD, which means that each pixel will be made up of four other pixels, so that an impressive sharpness is achieved when recording video. By the way, the resolution of the videos will be 1080p and at 60 FPS, with Slow Motion at 30 FPS. Of course, it will have another 2 megapixel front camera for video calls.

However, one of the big doubts about this launch was related to the design of the Motorola Moto X. The new smartphone has a glass Magic glass, which we also talked about a few days ago. This glass has been created by Corning, the company that created Gorilla Glass, in collaboration with the Americans, and it is not just a glass that protects the screen, but it is the entire front housing, so the resistance of the smartphone will be very high. However, the part of the case that Corning did not create, which is the one that protects the battery, is also remarkable. This is customizable. In the end it seems not to the level at which it was said. You will not be able to choose materials such as carbon fiber or wood, but the truth is that you can choose from a variety of colors. What's more, with a replaceable casing, the ability to change the color will not be complicated. The new phone will arrive in 18 different colors.

Price and launch

Its price is the best of all. It will cost as little as $ 199. We can expect that its price on arrival in Spain will also be 199 euros. This would relieve the Nexus 4 as the smartphone with the best quality / price ratio on the market, and precisely, launched by a company that now belongs to the one that launched the Nexus last year.

Regarding its availability, there were rumors that it would not be released outside the United States, but the truth is that it will not finally be like that, it will be released worldwide. It is expected that most of the countries, including Spain, will arrive at the end of the year, so it will be a matter of months before it is on sale in our country. In addition, it will be sold with a large number of operators around the world, and probably that also includes the Spanish ones, whose reputation is worldwide.
