When we think of tools to recognize music, we tend to think of Shazam. However, it is not the only application that offers such a service, and Google has its own built-in tool. So you can use Google Sound Search.
What is Google Sound Search?
Google Sound Search is a tool integrated into the Google application that allows anyone to recognize the song that is playing. In the Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL there is an active listening option that directly detects the songs by itself and shows them on the lock screen. Besides, you can also use Google Assistant to recognize music.
What all this tells us is that Google has more than enough experience in this field of recognizing music, so it has several possibilities to do so. However, the simplest and most accessible way to use Google Sound Search is through a shortcut.
How to use Google Sound Search easily with a shortcut
On the home screen of your Android phone, long press on an empty space. When the screen "zooms out," you'll see three options at the bottom. Today we are interested in the one that says Widgets. Press it and, in the new menu, scroll down until you find the Google app. It will offer you various widgets related to the application. Choose the last option, Google Sound Search, by pressing and holding on its icon. When the desktop reappears, drop the icon where it suits you best.
Once you have Google Sound Search on the desktop, everything will be easier. It will be enough that, when you want to recognize a song, you click on the icon. You will go to a new screen in which the application will try to identify the song that is playing. Once it succeeds, it will take you to a new screen, equivalent to those displayed when searching. You will have all the insights relevant to what was sounding.
As you can see in the image above, it shows who the artist is, the film or album of origin (the example used is from a musical film) and the date the song was released. Related searches are also put in, since a search was clearly done after crossing metadata. Using Google Search Sound, it becomes unnecessary to install a third-party application in case of scarce space. It is an effective solution, perhaps somewhat slower than Shazam, but that is good to know.
That only works if you have Pixel? Because I don't get the Google application widget. The other two exit. Not that one.
