La blue reading confirmation is one of the most relevant novelties in WhatsApp since the application was launched, because it represents an important modification of the operation of the app. Now everyone can know precisely if we have read the message. However, WhatsApp will be updated to allow users to disable this option.

For a long time there was talk and debate about whether the read confirmation of WhatsApp it means that the user who had received the message would read it, or had simply received it on their smartphone. When it was already quite clear that this only means that the smartphone had received the message when it had an Internet connection, but that the user did not have to read it, then it was requested that WhatsApp will launch a real read receipt. In fact, many other applications already included among their advantages over WhatsApp that users could know when the other user had read (not just received) the message. Well now what WhatsApp releases this new feature, so it seems like everyone wants to remove it. It seems increasingly clear that WhatsApp cannot modify anything, as it will meet a large number of people who will not like the news.

WhatsApp confirmation

Be that as it may, it appears that the company has chosen to allow users to disable the blue read receipt. According to a screenshot of a future version of the application, in German, it will be possible to deactivate this option. In my opinion, this is a mistake. I mean giving the possibility to choose between one or the other option. If your service has a specific feature, it is best if it is common for all users, choose one way or another, but that it is common for all. Now this will generate that some users will have this option activated while others will not, and it will not be clear how to know who has read each message.

Then we complain that WhatsApp does not include improvements. When it does, we complain and if it doesn't, too. Anyway

I think the second screenshot (in English) is clear. "If you turn off read receipts, you won't be able to see other people's read receipts either." The same as happened when disconnecting the last time in the privacy section.
