X-ray to the Samsung Galaxy S3. The software (Part Two)

We continue with our in-depth analysis of the software that accompanies the new flagship of the world's largest mobile manufacturer, the Samsung Galaxy S3. We now take a look at its multimedia and social capabilities, as well as the new applications and integrated system that allows us to share files and other elements in multiple ways. On May 29 we will be able to start testing each and every one of the functions that we analyze in depth.

Multimedia - All in one mobile

Music Hub, Game Hub and Video Hub are three new applications launched by Samsung, which will contain all the multimedia content provided by the company. There is only accurate data on Music Hub, which we know will offer us 17 million songs, more than any of the services used today frequently and that have a respectable quality. What we still do not know is if this will be free for everyone who has a Samsung Galaxy S3 device, although most likely it is not. From the hand of this comes Scan & Match, a service capable of recognizing the songs that we have on our property, and offering them to us for free from the Cloud, just as iTunes Match does. This service could cost $ 10 a month, and we still don't know what the relationship is with Music Hub, hopefully they provide more data on how both will work.

Finally, it is worth highlighting Popup Play, which allows us to open a video anywhere on the screen while we do other things. With a 4,8-inch screen, we can have both things open without one bothering the other. And it can be very useful, when sending an email, based on what we are seeing in the video, for example. Or also, when having a video call conversation with another person. It would be the first time that we could see and write at the same time.

Photography and Sociability - The New World of Samsung

We have left the world of photography for later. And it is that in this case, Samsung has directly related the social aspect. Not for less, we find a multitude of functions whose objective is to facilitate the sharing of photos with our friends and contacts.

The camera application stands out for its speed, capable of taking a picture in 0,9 seconds. In addition, it is capable of taking bursts of 20 photos in 3,3 seconds. As if this were not enough, it includes a function that captures a burst of eight shots, and automatically chooses the one that came out the best.

Regarding the social aspect, we find Buddy Photo Share, which uses facial recognition to see who appears in the photo. Once this is done, it allows us to send them the photo or, if we post it on social networks, tag them automatically.

Apps to share them all

In addition to all these functions, add some more, such as S Beam, and All Share. S Beam is limited to transferring files between two devices. The new bluetooth (which we used so much a few years ago). It takes advantage of the NFC technology that the device carries to connect with the other device and configure sending. Once this is done, it uses WiFi Direct to carry out the transfer, reaching very high speeds.

All Share Cast comes to replace the HDMI connection that, by the way, the Samsung Galaxy S3 will not carry, unless we buy the relevant adapter. What this system does is connect to the television, or to any other compatible screen through WiFi Direct, and we will be able to reproduce in this the same thing that we are seeing on the 4,8-inch screen of our device. All Share Play comes to complete this service allowing us to share what we are seeing through the network, as if we were sending what we do to others at all times.

Finally, we have Group Cast, a service that will facilitate the task of sharing files between users, through the WiFi connection. All devices that are using the same connection can send files directly through Group Cast, and even share with several at the same time.
