Xiaomi has presented its new Xiaomi Mi 6X, the successor to the Xiaomi Mi 5X that last year became the Xiaomi Mi A1 with Android One for the West. Now that it is official, it is time to compare: Xiaomi Mi 5X vs Xiaomi Mi 6X, which is better?

Xiaomi Mi 5X vs Xiaomi Mi 6X: a quality leap in the vast majority of sections

Xiaomi has presented the new Mi 6X, successor to the Mi 5X that was one of the most popular phones of the Chinese company last year. It was thanks to the Mi A1, yes, but without a doubt this has raised great expectations for the presentation that took place today. In it, it has been the company itself that has shown all the best in a direct comparison that you can see in the following image:

Therefore, the question is as follows:

  • Processor: It goes from a Snapdragon 625 to a Snapdragon 660. They could have settled for a 630 and there would have been no complaints, so going further and going up to the 660 is a very grateful addition. They assure that it will be 51% faster, and it remains to be seen if it is as efficient in battery consumption.
  • Frontal camera: As you already know, now the selfie camera will do photos in portrait mode, and this is accompanied by an increase in target. It goes from a 5 MP front camera to a 20 MP front camera. In percentage? They say a 315% improvement.
  • Rear camera: The rear dual camera of the Mi A1 stood out for bringing a double configuration to the mid-range offering good quality. The improvements also reach this section, going to a configuration of 12 MP + 20 MP that mainly improve the secondary objective. The apertures are now f / 1.75, and will be accompanied by improvements in Artificial Intelligence to help determine the best shooting modes. Without a doubt, cameras will once again be one of the main factors when buying this device. They mark the percentage of improvement at 26%.
  • Display: From 5 inches in 5: 16 format it goes up to 9'5 inches in 99: 18 format. The resolution goes up from Full HD (9 x 1.080 pixels) to Full HD + (1.920 x 1.080 pixels). The front is used 2.160% more and the terminal adapts to new trends.
  • Jack port: The main loss occurs in the headphone jack port, which disappears in this Xiaomi Mi 6X along with the FM radio chip. Although this second does not matter to Spanish users - the chip is not activated in the Mi A1 -, the first can put many users back. If you want to listen to music, you will need bluetooth headphones or those with a USB Type-C port.
  • Battery: Previous rumors indicated that the battery would be smaller. It has finally been like that and it goes from 3.080 mAh to 3.010 mAh. Of course, it has a fast charge that allows you to be at 70% in just 30 minutes.
  • Design: The two main differences between the design of the Mi 5X and the Mi 6X are caused by the screen and the cameras. The frames have been reduced and the buttons are now on the screen, but it is not difficult to recognize Xiaomi's own design lines. The cameras become vertical, with the flash in the middle of a module that protrudes further.
  • Models: The Mi 5X was originally released with a single configuration of 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. When the Mi A1 came out, a 3GB + 32GG version was also offered, further tightening the price. However, three different models are now offered, all matching or improving on the above. The minimum RAM remains at 4 GB, but two other higher models are offered with 6 GB of RAM. In addition, the internal storage offers either 64 or 128 GB, increasing the offer. Schematically, these are the models and prices (section that does not rise as much as expected):
    • 4 GB + 64 GB: 1599 yuan - 207 euros
    • 6 GB + 64 GB: 1799 yuan - 233 euros
    • 6 GB + 128 GB: 1999 yuan - 259 euros

Xiaomi Mi 5X vs. Xiaomi Mi 6X

Xiaomi Mi 6X: the improvement is overwhelming

At this point, the conclusions are quite clear: the Xiaomi Mi 6X sweeps. There are really only two sections in which it can be said that it has gotten worse: the battery and the port Jack. The first suffers a slight decrease in mAh, but nothing that makes a noticeable difference. The second disappears, something that can be very important for many users but that will not matter anything to others, already used to this movement in the high range.

Otherwise, the Xiaomi Mi 6X it offers a better design, advances in all its sections, more models with better configurations, improvements in Artificial Intelligence, a better screen, prices still adjusted ... It is simply difficult to find real reasons not to think of a more than remarkable quality jump.
