How to have the Ice Cream Sandwich launcher but without having Android 4.0

Even today, nine out of ten Android devices do not have the possibility to enjoy the latest version of the system, Ice Cream Sandwich. And, at the rate that the update processes are going, it does not seem that things are going to improve. But, for those of you with devices based on older versions (like Froyo or Gingerbread) there is a launcher that can be a comfort. It is called, of course, Holo Launcher.

Holo launcher, which has just released its latest stable version, lets you have the illusion of having Ice Cream Sandwich at least at the launcher level. Once installed, for which you do not have to do anything special except go to Google Play and download it, the home screen of your device with Android 2.2 (Froyo) or Android 2.3.x (Gingerbread) cswap your aged look for the cooler Ice Cream Sandwich.

The new Ice Cream Sandwich style is specified in new icons, folders, or charms, the same as those that carry any of the most recent terminals that come with Android 4.0.x. When installing it, you may lose some access such as the phone or some widgets. It has deleted them all for me on my old Galaxy Tab P1000. But don't worry, they are still in the list of applications and you just have to take them back to the home page.

The widgets thing has been a joy. When reinstalling them, I have finally been able to see them adjusted to the full width of the screen, both vertically and horizontally. Its position on the tablets with Froyo either to the right or to the left without filling the screen gave a seedy impression that the Holo Launcher has buried forever.

Another advantage of Holo Launcher is that you add more screens to which it comes by default, up to nine and the template to locate widgets or icons, 10 x 10, gives you much more freedom to place them. Now you can also edit the names of the folders and icons by keeping them pressed and in each new folder you can place up to seven different icons. There are still many more things that Holo Launcher includes, but the best thing is that you install it and try it. It's the closest some veteran devices will get to having the Ice Cream Sandwich experience.
